When MAC announced their Cinderella collection it's safe to say I was very, very excited. It's a collection that is dividing opinions of beauty lovers and Disney fans but I really do like the whole colour collection. I knew I would be and I'm first to admit I am biased because if you stick the Disney logo on something I'm pretty much guaranteed to buy it.
I adore the iridescent blue packaging of the collection and the Royal Ball lipstick. I personally think it is a great fit for a Cinderella collection as it instantly reminds me of her beautiful blue and sparkly ball gown! I think it's incredibly 'Princessy' and a great fit for the movie.
There are two lipsticks in the collection, Free As A Butterfly and Royal Ball. Free As A Butterfly is a more golden nude shade where as Royal Ball is a rose pink shade. Both lipsticks have 'Lustre' finishes, a finish in MAC lipsticks that I hadn't tried before.
Royal Ball is a fleshy toned rose pink that is quite warmed tone on a skin swatch but is going to look very different on the lips depending on your skin tone. On me it's a soft nude pink and I am very pale. It does have an ever so slightly frosty finish but not to much to put me off wearing it.
Royal Ball is quite sheer but does apply fairly evenly, you can build up the intensity to get a more opaque finish as long as you've buffed off any dead skin and prepped with a good lip balm.
It lasts around three hours before it needs to be reapplied. It's a great everyday shade that's easy to wear but not something I'd pick if I wanted a long lasting or more pigmented lipstick.
I'd prefer Royal Ball if it had a Creme Sheen or Amplified finish, but I think Lustre is probably the best finish with the idea of a 'Cinderella' lipstick in mind as she is quite neutral and soft on the make up front.
The Royal Ball Lipstick costs £17, £1.50 more than a standard MAC lipstick but you're paying for the packaging and Cinderella/Disney logos!
Will you be picking up anything from the MAC Cinderella collection?
