Jamie's Italian Westfield Stratford

I'm a huge lover of Italian food and eat far too much pasta, so when I was offered the chance to try out Jamie's Italian at Westfield Stratford it was safe to see I was excited! I headed down last Tuesday with my Nan as a bit of a pre birthday treat!

Jamie's Italian is a chain of restaurants founded by celebrity chef Jamie Oliver in 2008, there are now over 30 of the restaurants worldwide. The menu and design of the restaurants have a bit of a rustic Italian theme with a hint of a modern twist. The Stratford restaurant is on the outside part of Westfield and has large spaces both inside and outside to eat. There is also a shop where you can pick up Jamie Oliver's cookware, books and some authentic Italian ingredients!

As it was such a lovely day we decided to sit outside. The wooden tables really added to the rustic feel and the brightly painted metal chairs gave it a bit of modern colour too, there were also proper tea towel style napkins too. I didn't really see the inside of the restaurant but I think most people were seated outside enjoying the sun!

I'm a sucker for a cocktail and was pretty chuffed to see there was a list of different ones for me to pick from but I stuck to one of my personal favourites, a Strawberry Daiquiri, whilst my Nan had the house white wine. Whilst studying the snazzy menus I devoured a bread board with four different types of bread with chili jam and balsamic. Sometimes I wonder if it's possible to love anything more than how much I love carbs..

For my main course I had no problems picking Penne Carbonara with pancetta and minus the leeks, this is one of my favourite meals ever and 90% of the time I'll pick it if it's an option! Nan went for the Rib-Eye Steak served with wild mushrooms, skinny fries but without chicory salad. I personally liked the presentation of the food but Nan wasn't so sure, I think it was a bit too 'rustic' for her. I liked that my bowl was not perfectly shaped and anytime food is presented on a board it makes me want to eat it even more.

Oh my, the Carbonara was delicious. Halfway through I did start to go into a bit of a carb-related coma thanks to all the bread but it was so tasty. My mouth is genuinely watering at the thought of it right now. My Nan's steak was even better! She said it was one of the best steaks she'd ever had and I ever so slightly wished I'd ordered one too once I tried it, the chips were crispy on the outside and fluffy inside but I could only manage a couple.

The food at Jamie's Italian was really lovely and I'd definitely pick to go there again. It's on the pricier side for a high street style restaurant if you compared it to somewhere like Zizzi where you can get vouchers all the time. We did have to wait about 40 minutes for our main courses as well, because we were seated outside it apparently took longer for our order to reach the kitchen. It wasn't really a problem as we were enjoying our drinks in the sun and the waiting staff were very apologetic.

I'd definitely visit Jamie's Italian again and I'm sure next time myself and my Nan fancy an Italian treat it will be the the first place that pops into our minds.

Have you been to a Jamie's Italian?

I was provided with a gift voucher for Jamie's Italian.

  1. Those menus are such a nice design (the graphic designer in me coming out, only noticing the menu design and not even the FOOD!!) but that pasta also looks LOVEEELY.
