MAC Cranberry and Sketch Eyeshadows £10 each
When in Florida I went slightly mad in MAC with their eyeshadows. I have wanted to start up my own MAC palette for ages and the price difference in America sealed the deal for me. I love the idea of creating your own palette and picking the shades you know you will love and use. I succumbed to a bit of a blogger hype by picking up Cranberry and Sketch pan refill eyeshadows. Obviously I am in no way a make up artist and my skills aren't the best, but I love the idea of having two colours that compliment each other and are really simple to apply.
Cranberry is a beautiful eyeshadow, it really deserves the love it gets. It has a frost finish, meaning it's metallic and shimmery. It's definitely has glitter but it's not too much and is still very wearable. It's a really soft and creamy shadow that's easy to apply and blend, plus it's seriously pigmented! It's a hard shade to describe, but I think the name matches it really well, it's a red/purple/burgundy mix that looks scary but can be made as sheer or deep in colour as you want. It catches the light and looks beautiful all over the lid.
Sketch is a velvet finish and has a small amount of glitter infused into it. It's a slightly more matte formula and another beautiful colour. It's a deep purple/burgundy shade. Sketch isn't as brilliant as I find it can be more chalky and the pigmentation can be patchy. The texture is a lot harder than Cranberry, it might be to do with the finish but I'm not sure. I applied this to the outer corner of my eye and buffed it in to mix with Cranberry. I love the way it looks but am slightly disappointed with the quality of it. I will get a lot of use out of it still, it's a great crease colour.
I love the way Cranberry and Sketch look together. It was a really simple look to create and took barely any time. Even though both eyeshadows are different from the neutral shades I tend to stick too, I think there are so many ways they can be used and I'm excited to start experimenting!
