(this was when we started playing the wrong came at the wrong time- closest we came to winning too!)
Before you say 'but bingo is for pensioners' then you are definitely wrong! Last week I was sent for an evening of fun at Gala Bingo in Startford and took Lorna, Penny and Georgina along with me! I had no idea what to expect but I knew I was so excited as I had always wanted to go play bingo properly. We arrived at the Gala Bingo hall in Stratford and met the manager Dave who showed us around and explained a bit about the different games and how everything works. A lovely lady called Pam, who was the bingo caller for the night, explained in more detail how to play each game and what would happen through out the evening.
The night started at 7.30pm where we played three rounds of bingo for a line, then two lines and finally a full house. It went by really quick but was so much fun. After these games there was a break where we had some really yummy food. The chef at Stratford Gala Bingo used to work at The Ritz so you can imagine how impressive it was for such well priced food. During the break there were other mini bingo games happening for people to play and through out the night there were link up games with other Gala Bingo halls across the country. At one point we may have got a bit carried away and started playing our own game at the complete wrong time, (management obviously didn't have to intervene to tell us we were doing it all wrong!) We played the last three main games of bingo and the Last Chance games to end the night.
All of the staff, especially Pam, were so lovely and welcoming to us. Unfortunately none of us were lucky enough to win but we had a really fun night and are already planning out next trip back! Bingo halls have a main room where it is silent and more focused, or you can sit in the lounge where you can chat without worrying about annoying anyone else. I would definitely recommend giving bingo a go, it's not just for older people and you could win a huge amount of money, it usually costs £10 to play the main event and you can get a main meal for just £3.50- it's a cheap night out where you might win some money.
I posted an OOTD for our bingo evening here.
Thank you to Gala Bingo for having us and we will definitely be back soon!
Have you ever been to play Bingo?

*Gala Bingo kindly provided us with our game cards for the evening and were very generous to let us have a meal and drinks.
*I was provided with an ASOS voucher to get an outfit for the night.
How fab! Looks like a lot of fun - I'm thinking a bingo night out combined with an OAP fancy dress night out could possibly be perfection. Or would that be taking it too far...

ReplyDeleteI work at a bingo hall at the minute and you never know who's going to walk through the doors every night, I do quite enjoy it. Once a week though my local Gala does a free night, where the first chance, main games and last chance are all free so every so often when we have the night off the friends often drag me along with them - I love it :D

The greatest thing about this place was its interesting concept, and dare i say its sexy and seductive! The wood paneling makes the entire space feel warm and intimate. The seats are modern and comfortable.
